China is the number one supplier of oil and food to North Korea. Also North Korea has had luxury items smuggled into the country through Chinese ports. It is no surprise that North Korea relies on China and China relies on North Korea for trade. China is able to have items made in North Korea even cheaper than in China. This is a good deal for China, but goods made in China are already cheap, just how low do they want to go? The only real export from North Korea is minerals because they have or consume everything else. But when they have imports from China of components to make goods they do so for a pittance. North Korea’s Gross National Product is supposedly less than 2 billion dollars. Keep in mind that is a guesstimate because North Korea doesn’t report its GNP. North Korea’s largest export throughout the world is counterfeit currency, drugs, and of course information. When I say information I refer to missile and nuclear plans to whatever country will pay for them.
North Korea and Russia were allies at one time. Russia supplied them with information as well as submarines and other weapons. North Korea’s are not a stupid Nation. They have managed to live with sanctions for decades and know how to reverse engineer (take things apart and create one just like it). This has plagued Russia in the past when dealing with China. North Korea also has the ability to get on the Internet and find out whatever they want. Spies R Us! They don’t have to have Internet connections in North Korea, just spies in other countries feeding information back to their regime and feed it they do. As you well know you can find out most anything that you want to know on the Internet. This has probably had a lot to do with their ability in recent years to advance their missile and nuclear capabilities. Not to mention the fact that North Korea isn’t threatening to launch a nuclear missile at the United States. It is threatening a preemptive strike against the United States. There is a huge difference. With their limited nuclear technology it is not out of the scope of reason that they have the ability to deliver a nuclear weapon. Not in the conventional sense but a “dirty bomb” so to speak. Damage from a “dirty bomb” is not in the course of actual destruction but radiation. Also another factor that you have to take into account is they are saying an attack on the United States. Every ship in the United States fleet is considered United States territory, and most wars have started at sea.
While Washington sits around so smug saying the United States is capable of shooting down any missile from North Korea, they are not taking into account that there are many, many, different ways to deliver a nuclear attack without use of a missile. The purpose of this post is not to scare you in any way, but to enlighten you as to what North Korea is truly capable of. We should not take these as idle threats, but should actually look at this rhetoric as a creditable threat. We aren’t dealing with his daddy anymore. Which dealt out threats on a daily basis. We are dealing with a new regime that within the last year has conducted nuclear testing and launched a missile into space. North Korea’s new leader has something to prove to the world and taking on the strongest Nation in the world would definitely set the tone and prove he is to be taken seriously.
North Korea has upped the ante. In the past when dealing with his father, North Korea made idle threats against the United States and South Korea. Especially when they were conducting joint exercises off the coast of North Korea. But, no one knows what the new leader will do. We do not know if he is bluffing or if he is crazy enough to carry out his threats. He claims that he will launch a “Preemptive strike” against the United States and now would be the time. While we have limited presence in the area and financial constraints, as the North Korean Leader is well aware of, we are sitting ducks. It is not a well known fact but if you look it up online you will find that North Korea has submarines. These are not your average submarines but exceptionally quite ones. Ones that are practically undetectable. This presents a huge problem, especially if they take a jihad type stance and send them into United States waters with nuclear material and detonate them.
The other component that we are not aware of, is do they already have nuclear material here in the United States? We have intelligence to say they don’t, but your intelligence is only as good as the people providing it. North Korea has been counterfeiting our money for years, sending drugs into the country, and not reporting any real income into their country. With these venues they have to be making money and a lot of it. It is suspected that they are banking it in China but that is yet to be seen. We do know that since they were caught with 20 billion in a Macao bank and it was seized by the United States they have split their monies across the board. They have been starting smaller accounts so if they are discovered they will not loose all their booty.
I really don’t know if North Korea is trying to start something with the United States or not. If you look at Iraq as an example and what happened there, it would only be to their advantage to start a war with the United States. We went over, destroyed the country and then rebuilt it. I am sure that North Korea could use a make-over. But the son has something to prove and the United States and South Korea should really be taking this guy seriously. He said he was going to test a nuke and he did. He said that he was going to test a missile and he did. So far, he seems to not care what the United States and South Korea says or does, but he seems to be going to do what he says and does!
Today, my rant is on the Keystone Pipeline from Canada. We, as a country, are supposed to be moving forward toward energy independents. Yet big oil wants us to import an oil sand mixture from Canada to be transformed into oil and later gas. We cannot depend on other countries to provide our oil and gas. We have to be self sufficient and keep power on the grid without outside help. We have every capability to do so right now. With the use of solar power, wind power, and hydro power we can keep power on the grid. By simply converting over our power plants to natural gas (which we burn off currently) and using it to stabilize the plant when green energy isn’t producing we would be completely independent. That would allow us to use all the oil we produce for gasoline and gas prices would drop like a tank. But that is not in the best immediate interest of Big Oil companies. Big Oil really hasn’t picked up on the fact that the Country is going to go to green energy with or without them. BP Oil has already invested in wind power and has 7 stations in as many states that they control from the 13th floor in a 26 floor building in Texas. They have seen the way things are going and have jumped on the bandwagon. Now to get the other oil companies to do the same. We as a country cannot afford to keep simply outputting oil. We need to take advantage of the hundreds of years supply of natural gas to supply our power plants. We need to take that time and have the advantage of wind, solar, and hydro power. We are one of the most technologically advanced Countries in the world and yet we still haven’t worked out a way to do this? We may be one of the most technologically advanced Countries in the world but we certainly aren’t the smartest!
It is time for Big Oil to take advantage of the natural gas they are just burning off. Invest in green energy and not invest or depend on other countries to support our need for electricity. They have all the money necessary to do this, yet they still want to keep the Country dependent on oil. Of course, we would still depend on oil for gasoline. So it is not like they would be cutting off their nose to spite their face. They would be adding a stream of revenue that wouldn’t run out.
Now that we have hit March 1st, we are also being hit by March 1st. We are now going to have less National Security, less Cyber Security, just less as a whole. We can work as a Nation with this mess. We will have longer lines at airports, less flights, and more crowded flights. This is not something that is going to devastate our Nation. It will just slow it down a bit. Well quite a bit. I know that most of you won’t even notice this mess at all. Because it does not directly effect you. But what you must understand is that it does effect you. Of course, I am talking National Security. We are making ourselves more vunerable. Taking ourselves back a decade or so. I suggest that we all pray our butts off that our enemies we have been fighting and are now working out of Africa, do not take advantage of our situation. Or perhaps an attack on our allies, when we only have one carrier group in the region. Just so you know, one carrier group is capable of many things. But two are more than capable of a war. We are not totally defensless, we just don’t have the defenses we should have according to assessment. Just something to think about…..
